What you should know about your air supply grills

Many people do not realize how the improper use of air supply grills can effect your system in an adverse way. Each air supply grill is designed to circulate specific amounts of air throughout your home. You should never close your grills even if you don't use a particular room or area of the house, doing so will not save you any money and you could damage your cooling system. Your grills should be wide open at all times. If you would like to have certain areas of your home split into zones you should invest in a Zoning System that will allow you close off a certain area of your home using electronically installed dampers in the ducting system to restrict air flow to the ducts that are not in use.

Why is my air conditioner blowing warm air?

That is a question commonly asked around this time of year. There are many reasons why your air conditioner is blowing warm air but we will focus on a few of the most common reasons.

air conditioning freezed up

♦ No power to the outside air conditioning unit. The circuit breaker might have been tripped or the fuse for the AC has blown.

♦ There can also be a restriction of airflow to and from the Air Conditioner that causes the outside air conditioning unit to freeze up. This can be  caused by a dirty filter that has not been replaced in a long time or the coils might be dirty and you need your yearly maintenance by professional HVAC contractor .

♦ The Air Conditioning unit is low on refrigerant and needs a professional HVAC contractor to charge the system and check for and repair leaks.

The most important thing as a home owner is to check your filters monthly. And make sure to keep debris such as trim bushes, weeds, tall grass and dirt away from your outside unit this will prevent the outside unit to be clogged by dirt, leaves or debris that can keep your AC from properly running right.
